Stanbic Bank Zambia has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to technology-driven social impact, winning the Best Tech & Innovation for CSR – Tech-Driven CSR Initiative at the 6th CSR & Sustainability Awards 2025. This prestigious award highlights the bank’s dedication to empowering young minds through digital education, with a major focus on its STEAM education initiative, implemented in partnership with Robotix Institute.
As a leading organization in robotics and coding education, Robotix Institute collaborated with Stanbic Bank Zambia to bring cutting-edge STEAM learning to students. One of the key initiatives that contributed to this award was the STEAM robotics and coding program at Northmead Primary School, which introduced 40 Grade 5 students to the world of robotics and programming. Through hands-on experience, students built and coded Tessa, an obstacle-avoidance robot, using Tessa Blocks, a custom-built block-based coding platform. This allowed them to assemble ultrasonic sensors, motors, and driver boards, engaging with modern digital technology for the first time.
Beyond technical skills, this initiative aimed to bridge the digital divide by ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds have access to 21st-century education. The impact of this project extended beyond the classroom when students participated in Stanbic Bank Zambia’s AI Day, engaging in discussions on how artificial intelligence is shaping the future. Witnessing young minds confidently explore the possibilities of AI reinforced the importance of early exposure to technology.
This award is a testament to the power of collaboration between corporate entities and tech-driven educational organizations like Robotix Institute. By working together, Stanbic Bank Zambia and Robotix Institute are shaping a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive in the digital world. This recognition is not just a win for the bank but for Zambia’s next generation of innovators.
