Robotix Institute: A Year of Innovation & Impact

At Robotix Institute, we are on a mission to make technology education accessible and inspiring. In a short time, our dedicated and efficient team has achieved remarkable milestones, earning us a nomination for the Tech Trends Awards in the Tech Startup and Tech for Good categories.

One of our proudest achievements was our game development and robotics program at BongoHive, which ran from August to December. Using G-Develop, young innovators learned to create interactive games with custom characters and scoring systems. They also built and programmed Tessa, our collision-avoidance robot, gaining hands-on experience with Python programming and essential tech skills.

In December, we took our work to Kitwe, collaborating with Launcher Engineers’ Hub for a 4-day Code Camp. We introduced children to block-based programming and game development, allowing them to program Tessa and design their own games. This collaboration not only taught technical skills but also sparked curiosity and built confidence in the next generation of innovators.

Through our five-month robotics and coding program at Northmead Primary School, in partnership with Stanbic Bank Zambia, we introduced 40 Grade 5 students to coding and robotics. They learned to assemble and program Tessa, using Tessa Blocks, our custom block-based coding platform. This program provided many students with their first exposure to modern digital technology, helping to bridge the digital divide and prepare them for the future. Their learning journey even led them to Stanbic Bank Zambia’s AI Day, where they engaged in discussions on how AI is transforming industries.

We also pushed creativity through the Smart House Challenge at LICS, where students designed homes with sensors and security features. Our presence extended to national platforms like the Agricultural Show with ZICTA, where we showcased robotics and coding in action.

As a startup, our growth has been fast and impactful. We’ve expanded our team, welcomed new instructors and marketing professionals, and launched our first-ever weekend classes, making tech education even more accessible.

Our nomination for Tech Startup and Tech for Good reflects our commitment to empowering young minds with the tools to shape the future—and we’re just getting started.
